The LEGO Architecture theme was extended to a sub theme called Skylines last year, and we’ve covered many of the more recent sets with reviews and comments. We’re big fans of the whole Architecture series here, and as much as some people complained about the micro-scale Skylines, LEGO is extending it in 2017 with 3 more sets in the first half.
Paul Wellington, aka Luap31, over at ArchBrick posted an article back in October featuring several fan-made skyline sets that would right at home with the official LEGO ones.
Some of the sets are based on movies or TV shows like Bikini Bottom (SpongeBob Squarepants), Endor (Star Wars) and Mordor (Lord of the Rings).

Most often though, people are designing where they live, what they know, or at least what we’re all more familiar with. Thus, the primary list includes some of the world’s capital or larger cities.
Most of the sets are based in what’s considered Micro-scale, which basically can mean anything smaller than a minifigure sized building. It could be 1:200, or 1:650 like many are.
Alphabetically we have the following:
Budapest

Cleveland

Dortmund

Dubai

Frankfurt

Glasgow

London

Milan

Munich

Münster
Paderborn

Paris

Rotterdam

Seattle

Seoul

Tokyo

Toronto
