Cinderella's CastleRumors are swirling this weekend that hot on the heels of the Disney Custom Minifigure lineup we’ll get another wonderful Disney surprise in the form of Cinderella’s Castle, set 71040. This would continue the pattern started with The Simpsons where the spring release of a minifigure set would then be followed by the fall release of a full Direct To Consumer (D2C) release such as [easyazon_link identifier=”B00W677IOQ” locale=”US” tag=”brickbrains-20″]The Kwik-E-Mart (71016)[/easyazon_link] or the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00HX14C7Q” locale=”US” tag=”brickbrains-20″]Simpson’s House (71006)[/easyazon_link].

As of now, there’s no confirmation of this or any real details about the set, but as always there is a lot of speculation. The first news was brought to us by CM4Sci over at Eurobricks who has always had good information in the past.

The set is expected to be based on the Walt Disney World Resort version from Orlando, Florida. There is also speculation that the set would extend the 71012 Minifigure series to include other Disney park mascots like Pluto, Goofy and likely a Tinkerbell. It’s also possibly they would include other Cinderella type characters from the movie depending on which way the set is to be marketed. If it’s a “real world” set, then expect Disney Theme Park mascots, if it’s based on the movie, then I would expect a Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother at the least.

One thing is certain, the expectation is that these would be minifigures, not mini-dolls which most people seem to dislike.

The size of the set is entirely unknown also, but given it’s a D2C (Direct To Consumer) set, some speculate 1800 – 2500 pieces and a price tag around $200 – $300. Both Simpson’s sets are $199.99.

Given that October marks DisneyWorld’s 45 Anniversary, the September release of a set like this makes sense.
