** Updated Jan 20: New photos of the back of the boxes were added to each set.
Today two overseas Amazon websites posted official set images of the 3 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sets due out in March. Both Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de (Germany) have posted the sets on their sites including prices, piece counts and the minifigure information.
The movie will be released in April and features all of the original cast: Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Dave Bautista (Drax). This time they’re also joined by Karen Gillan, Kurt Russell, Nathan Fillion and Sylvester Stallone. Also returning are Glenn Close as Nova Prime and Michael Rooker as Yondu.
Ravager Attack (76079) – £19.99, €24.99
(197 pieces including Taserface, Mantis and Rocket Raccoon)
Ayesha’s Revenge (76080) – £29.99, €34.99
(323 pieces including Ayesha, Yondu, Star-Lord and Groot)
The Milano vs. The Abilisk (76081) – £44.99, €49.99
(460 pieces including Nebula, Gamora, Drax, Star-Lord and Groot)
Given the popularity of the last movie, these sets should do much better than the sets for the first movie, which weren’t super popular. The designers have been smart and included the new baby Groot figure in 2 of the sets. Some people will buy these just for that reason. Unfortunately if you want the full Guardians crew you have to buy at least two sets (76079 and 76081).
Frankly the only set that I’m really interested in is The Milano, it looks like a really interesting design and of course you get all those minifigures. The US price hasn’t been released, but at 460 pieces I’m guessing around $60.
In Ayesha’s Revenge, the yellow ship does look interesting and probably uses some interesting non-standard techniques so that might be one to pick up too.
More news and images as they are released.
