Just in time for May the 4th 2023 – AKA Star Wars Day, we get a sequel video game to one of the best Star Wars games – Star Wars Jedi: Suvivor is the follow up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I’m not a huge gamer, but I am a huge geek, and I played Fallen Order all the way through – it was fun and challenging and looked great even on the PS4.
One of the things about Star Wars movies and TV shows is the “cute” robots or droids that seem to be needed everywhere. Of course we started with R2-D2 and C-3PO in the original, and we’ve had many more like C1-10P, the mouse droids, IG-11 and fan-favorite BB-8. In Star Wars Jedi, our hero Cal Kestis befriends BD-1. Some of the droids are annoying and designed to specifically sell merchandise, but BD-1 is neither of those. He’s a helpful addition to the Fallen Order story line and will likely be the same in Jedi Survivor.
LEGO didn’t miss out on the merchandising, undoubtedly prompted by Disney and Lucasfilm, when they brought out the BD-1 set last year. Measuring in at 12.5 in. (31 cm) tall and built with 1062 parts, the set features a plaque like you’d find in a UCS set and the model is extremely poseable with several points of articulation.
The role of Cal Kestis is once again voiced and performed by Cameron Monaghan, probably best known for his role on the TV series Gotham as Jerome Valeska who many believed to be The Joker – something else he may have in common with Mark Hamill. Cameron is also VERY well known for his role in the series Shameless, along with roles on more shows than you’d expect for someone so young.
Speaking of Mark Hamill – here’s a super funny commercial he and Cameron did together for the game.
