Late breaking news today, but not unexpected. Following yesterday’s release of the awesome trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, we finally see the official images from LEGO. Marvel and LEGO have a long and successful history of releasing sets in tandem with movies and this is obviously no exception.
The first set (76176 – Escape from the Ten Rings) is the one shown to the right. Very much a playset. No real world building but it does focus on the character minifigs and a couple of vehicles. The set contains 321 pieces and it includes expected minifigures of Shang-Chi, Wenwu, Katy, and Razor Fist along with a figure of Morris, the bat-like sidekick. Weird.
The movie is part of the next Phase of the Marvel universe which will introduce us to a new group of heros, somewhat different from the Avengers we’ve seen in the past. The new TV Series like WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Loki all tie into this, but in ways we haven’t fully seen yet.
Pricing and release date for this set aren’t yet available. The partcount suggests it’s likely to be $24.99 – $29.99 USD. The film is released in September so expect this set prior to that.
