Luigi’s finally hitting the track! The LEGO Group has revealed the LEGO Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set (72050), the latest 18+ build in the LEGO Super Mario lineup and the ideal partner piece to last year’s hugely popular Mario & Standard Kart set (72037). This time it’s the green machine’s turn to shine, and he’s arriving in style behind the wheel of the first-ever large-scale LEGO brick recreation of the iconic Mach 8 kart. At 2,234 pieces, this is actually a bigger build than Mario’s set — so yeah, Player 2 came to play.
The set features a beautifully detailed buildable Luigi figure with a posable head, arms, and hands, seated confidently in the Mach 8 and ready to race. Display options are fantastic — the kart sits on a stand that lets you angle it in dynamic, race-ready poses that capture that classic mid-drift energy. But it’s not just a static display piece. Remove the kart from its stand and you can roll it forward, turn the steering wheel to move the front wheels, and spin the back wheels to activate a rotating flame exhaust. It’s the kind of playful interactivity that makes LEGO Super Mario sets so much fun, and paired alongside Mario’s Standard Kart, you’ve got yourself one seriously impressive head-to-head display.
LEGO® Mario Kart™ levels up Super Mario™ line-up with Luigi and the first-ever large-scale Mach 8 Kart set
BILLUND, DENMARK – 10 March 2026: Start your engines! The LEGO Group today revealed the LEGO® Mario Kart™ – Luigi & Mach 8 (72050), the latest addition to the line-up of LEGO Super Mario™ products. This highly detailed model is inspired by the beloved Mario Kart™ series.
Designed for builders aged 18 and up, the set includes 2,234 pieces that bring Luigi and the Mach 8 to fans in brick form. The buildable figure features a posable head, arms and hands, seated confidently behind the wheel of the first-ever large-scale LEGO brick recreation of the Mach 8 kart.
Builders can display the kart on its stand at dynamic, race-ready angles, capturing the excitement of a Mario Kart™ showdown mid-drift. For added interactivity, the model can also be removed from its stand and rolled forward. Turning the steering wheel turns the front wheels, and turning the back wheels will spin the flame exhaust, allowing for a playful movement alongside static display.
The Luigi & Mach 8 set is the ideal counterpart to the LEGO® Mario Kart™ – Mario & Standard Kart (72037), sold separately, letting fans create a full head-to-head display of their favourite characters.
The LEGO Mario Kart™ – Luigi & Mach 8 (72050) is available for pre-order today (10 March 2026) and will be available for immediate purchase from 1 April 2026 via LEGO.com/Luigi-mach8 and LEGO Stores, priced at £159.99 / €179.99 / $179.99.

Whether you’re Team Luigi or just looking to complete the ultimate Mario Kart display, the LEGO Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set delivers on every level. The build is packed with detail, the interactive features add a fun hands-on element, and that Mach 8 kart looks absolutely fantastic in brick form. But let’s be honest — if you’ve already got Mario and his Standard Kart on your shelf, Luigi belongs right there beside him. These two were made to be displayed together, and the head-to-head setup is going to be a real showpiece in any collection. It’s-a go time!
