Wicked LEGO sets pay homage to the upcoming movies.

If you’re a fan of the smash Broadway musical “Wicked” or the book, or the classic Wizard of Oz or… Ariana Grande? then these Wicked LEGO sets might just be perfect for you.

Thanks to French Online Store Fnac again, we’re getting an early look at some highly anticipated sets. These 4 sets, releasing October 1, are based on the upcoming movie version of Wicked (Part One!) feature the main characters of Elphaba and Glinda who most people know go on to become “The Wicked Witch” and “The Good Witch” in the classic Wizard of Oz story.

The four Wicked LEGO sets feature LEGO Friends style mini-dolls of the main characters while depicting some of the main locations we see in the trailer. The movie seems to feature the developing relationship between Glinda and Elphaba at Shiz Uni, so we get a set of their dorm room, along with a facade of Shiz University itself as well as a large Emerald City which includes several more of the main characters (Fiyero, The Wizard and Madame Morrible I think).

I’m excited for this movie and the Wicked LEGO sets. I don’t know the musical all that well, and didn’t complete reading the first book, much less the other 3, but the original Wizard of Oz movie is one of my favorites and has long lived rent-free in my head, along with Somewhere Over The Rainbow on repeat.

Rumor has it that a former LEGO Master runner-up was involved in the design of at least 1 of these sets. Stay tuned for more once LEGO officially reveals the sets and our LEGO Master doesn’t have to protect his their NDA anymore, we’ll be sure to give you all the details.

We’ll also let you know if you can pre-order these Wicked LEGO sets or if you have to hit the shops on October 1.

75681 – Glinda, Elphaba and Nessarose at Shiz Uni

This small 304 piece set features the 3 main female characters outside of Shiz and includes a small sailboat.

75682 – Elphaba and Glinda Figures

I’m torn about what to think of this 558-piece set. At first, I didn’t like the figures but as I look at it more, I’m coming around I think. The set has a gorgeous print piece for the window (I think) but then a lot of the elements of both dresses and the initial plates on the front of the stands look to be stickers! Ugh.

75683 – Glinda and Elphaba’s Dormitory

The dorm room set at 740-pieces, folds in on itself to become what appears to be a trunk and a round pink box.

75684 – Welcome To Emerald City

This 945-piece set features the main entrance of Emerald City with again, a bunch of stickers and at least 1 beautiful print piece. Can you spot it?

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire gives us a fresh take on the classic “Wizard of Oz” story, this time from the perspective of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. We get to see her whole life story, from her unusual birth to her rise as the infamous witch. Along the way, the book dives into her battles with fitting in, her strong sense of justice, and the blurred lines between good and evil. It’s set in the familiar yet intriguingly different land of Oz, and it offers a deeper, more sympathetic look at a character we’ve all thought we knew.

Can I just say the double meaning of “Wicked LEGO Sets” just tickles me in an odd way?

Let us know in the comments if you’re interested in these sets. There’s some new pieces and interesting color combinations here. Along with those print pieces that we mentioned, which might look great in some other settings of your creation!
