Hey LEGO fans! Guess what? LEGO just announced the release of their first-ever Fortnite sets, and let me tell you, they are quite the eye-catchers. Among the four sets coming out this year, one in particular has grabbed everyone’s attention for being both fascinating and a little bit eerie.
Let’s talk about Peely Bone (77072). If you’re into Fortnite, you’re probably familiar with Peely, the lovable banana character who’s been a fan favorite since his debut. But LEGO has taken it up a notch with Peely Bone, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from them before. Imagine a banana with a skull and skeleton – yup, that’s Peely Bone!
Now, don’t get me wrong, the set looks fantastic with incredible attention to detail. It’s not that I’m freaked out by it, but it’s definitely a departure from the typical LEGO style. Usually, LEGO sticks to more traditional themes, so this is a fun and unexpected twist. There was a LEGO Anatomy set in the Ideas project that never got produced, and I can’t help but think this Peely Bone set might have been inspired by that.
For those who aren’t familiar with the video game Fortnite and LEGO Fortnite(where have you been?), Peely Bone is an EPIC Outfit in the game, first introduced in Chapter 2: Season 1. This spooky version of Peely, complete with it’s half skeleton and that unsettling pink “intestine” detail, was first released in 2019 and quickly became a popular skin among players.
Seeing Peely Bone in LEGO form is both exciting and a bit strange. I mean, how often do you see a skeleton banana on your toy shelf? But hey, it’s unique and shows that LEGO is willing to push the boundaries and cater to its adult fans who love a good mashup of fun and creepy.
To balance things out, there’s also a regular Peely minifigure included in the Fortnite Battle Bus set (77073). This version of Peely is all smiles and happiness – quite the contrast to his skeletal counterpart.
