The LEGO Group has announced an unexpected new line up for 2017. In both the Marvel and DC Super Heroes lines, they will produce a set of figures called BrickHeadz and will premiere the line-up at San Diego Comic-Con next week.

The sets will allow you to “create, collect and display versions of iconic characters and superheroes out of classic LEGO bricks and elements.” Looking at the pictures below, there are definitely a few custom elements in the set, most notably the chest plate of each character which could be a sticker, and a couple of their accessories look new.

While the first line will be exclusive to SDCC, we will all have a chance to buy other sets when the sets are released in 2017. No details on prices, release date or if they will be sold in pairs like the pictures or individually when they are released to the public.

For those going to SDCC:

These sets will only be sold at the LEGO booth at San Diego Comic-Con and will not be offered to any retailer at any other time.

How to purchase at SDCC:
While purchase and fulfillment of exclusive LEGO BrickHeadz sets will take place in LEGO booth #2829, attendees must first visit the Pavilion Terrace to participate in a random drawing to qualify to buy, beginning as early as 7 am daily. Each of the four exclusive retail sets will be sold on separate days of the show, with a limit of one set per attendee per day. Tickets to purchase must be redeemed on the same day or purchase is forfeited.

Schedule for retail exclusives:

July 21st Batman™ and The Joker™
July 22st – Black Panther and Dr. Strange
July 23nd – Superman™ and Wonder Woman™
July 24th – Captain America and Iron Man

Price at SDCC will be $40

Fans who are not attending SDCC have a chance to win one of the exclusives via Twitter by following @LEGO_Group and the hashtag #LEGOSDCC.
