Clint Parry, 27, of Wauseon, Ohio was crowned the new Master Model Builder at Legoland Discovery Center Michigan at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets on Sunday after two intense days of competition. The challenges included not only showcasing his building techniques and expertise, but his ability to work with the public and children specifically.
Parry’s winning build was a desktop computer and monitor with ejectable floppy disc, bringing out his creativity and inventiveness. Veronica Watson, master model builder for the Legoland center in Westchester, N.Y. was impressed by Parry’s creation. Debbie Gibb, marketing manager for Legoland Discovery Center Michigan said that Parry will begin working immediately to be ready for the spring opening of the center.
As the center’s master builder, Parry will be responsible for building themed exhibits as well as planning special displays, interacting with visitors, working with the center’s building academy and planning field trips.
Legoland Discovery Centers are smaller versions of the Legoland theme parks and are operated by British leisure group Merlin Entertainments which also owns Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, Sydney Aquarium and Siam Ocean World among its many properties. Legoland Discovery Centers are not operated by the LEGO Group, but the investment arm (KIRKBI AS) are among the largest shareholders in Merlin Entertainments. Merlin group bought the Legoland theme parks and eventually the Florida-based theme park, Cypress Gardens, which it reopened as Legoland Florida.
